I’m a Senior at Davidson College where I am involved in Davidson Refugee Support’s local tutoring initiative and I have tutored refugees in ESL and Citizenship Test. I am also a translator at the free clinic at Ada Jenkins. I’m Cuban-American and have consistently been exposed to Spanish my whole life, and last year I studied abroad in Arequipa, Peru as part of the Davidson in Peru program. I’m involved with SiDES because I believe and know from experience that being bilingual opens the door for an incredible range of different educational, cultural, and job opportunities and experiences that would not be accessible otherwise. Fun Fact: I am named after former Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino.
